Escondido, a New Aquatics Facility is Coming!
For the past four years, my colleagues and I on the Escondido Union High School District Board of Trustees have been working to secure funding and partnerships that would allow for the construction of a new aquatics facility in Escondido. Our student athletes lack a competition-grade aquatics facility and end up having to travel to other cities and districts like San Marcos and Poway in order to practice and compete. In addition, options are limited in our community for families that are looking for aquatic recreation.
Four years ago, in response to overwhelming public comment seeking a new aquatics facility, Tina Pope and I formed a sub-committee at EUHSD to study, develop, and execute a plan to build a new aquatics facility in Escondido. Fortunately, we are now in a position to deliver on that plan and utilize federal funding to make this a reality. Funding has already been approved by the Escondido Union High School District Board of Trustees and City Council for a new facility in Grape Day Park. Now is your chance to submit additional input on what you want to see included in the new aquatics facility. Please fill out the form below with your thoughts, ideas, and suggestions!
